"The author's hunting party traveled through the Mareb River region of Abyssinia and encountered lion, gazelle, hartebeest and elephant. While there are various incidences of sport, much of the narrative is of travel in the area. As with many sportsmen in the tropics, Mayo fell ill to fever and dysentery, but managed to recover: 'I am much better this morning, having taken three doses of opium which acted instantaneously, thank goodness!' Undoubtedly!" (Czech). This copy stamped "Editor's Library Press Shelf," with the ink hand notation "Editor's Library Harper Bros". Czech, Africa, p. 188.
