With presentation card to R. M. Walker signed by the author tipped onto first blank. "Newspaper magnate Boyce set out on a three year journey throughout Africa to capture his experiences for his readers and increase circulation. Of primary interest to the sporting bibliophile is his lengthy treatment (4 chapters) on big game hunting in British East Africa. Near Currie Springs, he hunted rhinoceros, with hippopotamus bagged near Ripon Falls. East of Lake Victoria, he hunted elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo, with an additional chapter on hunting antelope, zebra and giraffe" (Czech). Czech, Africa, pp. 32-33.
