BULPETT, C. W. L. A Picnic Party in Wildest Africa. Being a sketch of a winter's trip to some of the unknown waters of the Upper Nile.
London: Edward Arnold, 1907. First edition, inscribed by the author. Publisher's red cloth gilt. 9 x 5 1/2 inches; xiii, [1], 246, 16 pp.; folding map, frontispiece, plates, half-title, publisher's advertisements. Extremities lightly bumped, foxing throughout, one-inch tear to map near mount, booksellers ticket to rear pastedown.
Inscribed by the author to R. Schwerdt (likely famed sporting collector C.F.G.R. Schwerdt). "Bulpett was a member of W. N. McMillan's expedition through the Sudan and into Abyssinia. The party headed toward the Sobat River, collecting giraffe, tiang and a variety of antelope. Near the Baro River in Abyssinia, elephants were bagged. Additional elephants were collected after crossing the Gelo River, with buffalos taken as well. Near Mt. Umgwala, roan and more elephant were collected. A portion of the text also comes from the diary of Mrs. McMillan" (Czech). Czech, Africa, p. 43.
