Contemporary half morocco, gilt spine, top edges gilt. 7 7/8 x 5 inches; [xvi], 386; x, 370 pp.; frontispieces, additional engraved vignette title pages, full-page map, plates. Upper joints starting, leather a bit rubbed, frontis and engraved title in volume two stained and edgeworn, scattered foxing, contemporary ownership signature.
The second edition published the same year as the first. Czech, Africa, pp. 71-72 ("One of the classics of African big game hunting"); Mendelssohn I:398-9.
