London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1932. First edition. Publisher's black cloth in black dust jacket. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches; [223] pp.; tipped-in frontispiece, half-title. Jacket a bit edgeworn and creased with loss to foot of spine and repair to verso of upper panel, cloth tips bumped, foxing throughout, a few leaves roughly opened, ink stamp to front free endpaper.
"Duff devotes chapters on hunting elephants and lions by the likes of James Sutherland, Alfred Sharpe and Fred Selous in this potpourri of observations, particularly in old Nyasaland, with additional mention of his knowing Gordon Cumming. He includes his own hunts after buffalo and crocodiles, with a curious chapter on an encounter with a huge, unknown beast on Lake Nyasa" (Czech). Czech, Africa, pp. 86-87.
