London: Jarrolds, [1947]. First edition, presentation copy from the author. Publisher's green cloth, in dust jacket. 9 x 5 7/8 inches; 200 pp.; frontispiece and plates after photographs. Jacket torn with loss, lower panel a bit spotted, cloth with some pale staining, cloth ends rubbed; together with another copy also in dust jacket.
Warmly inscribed to Francis Bridgman on the front free endpaper. "A noted big game hunter in India, Sleeman chose the camera over the rifle when he journeyed to Uganda and the Congo. Of sport, there is only a brief mention of a buffalo being wounded, then stalked after an aborted photographic session. The author also provides an interesting chapter on an historical analysis of sportsmen hunting game with a camera" (Czech). Czech, Africa, p. 257. The lot two volumes. (2)
