There is a one inch vertical tear at center left. There is a 1/2 x 1/2 inch area of inpaint in the center of the sitter's forehead and a 1/2 x 1/4 inch area of inpaint in his uniform (lower center), both with corresponding patches on the reverse. There is also an area of inpainting by his nose (approximately 1/4 x 1/4 inch). A smaller area of inpaint found above shoulder at center left (also with verso patch). Craquelure throughout.
