Chinese Gilt-Bronze of a Bodhisattva, Probably Manjusri
Ming Dynasty, circa 15th century
Seated dhyanasana on an elaborately detailed double-lotus base, he wears elaborate bodhisattva garb, jewelry and a five-leaf diadem; his hands are positioned in vitarka and varada mudra holding the stems of padma; base unsealed. Height 7 7/8 inches (20 cm).
