Lot Details

Lot 301
Gorham Sterling Silver Circa '70
Drinks Set
Designed by Donald Colflesh, 1960
Comprising a slender decanter with globular base, six conical cups, and circular galleried tray. Height of decanter 12 1/2 inches, total approximately 22 ounces, weighable.
Donald Colflesh designed some of Gorham's most futuristic silverware including this drinks set. The sleek silhouettes take inspiration from the space age and the formica in the tray made use of a new and novel material. The Circa '70 line was marketed as having a feeling of vertical motion... the upward look to space which is clearly seen in the slender elongated neck of this decanter. This creative line was Gorham's most direct challenge to Scandinavian design.
