George I Gilt-Gesso and Giltwood Pier Mirror
First quarter 18th century
The two-part arched beveled mirror plate within faceted glass borders joined with gilt-decorated fillets, the pierced cresting carved with birds' heads and scrolling foliage centered by a foliate-carved oval cartouche on a punchwork ground. Height 6 feet 5 inches (195.6 cm), width 29 inches (73.7 cm).
