Russian Gold and Guilloché Enamel Imperial Presentation Brooch
Carl Blank for Hahn, St. Petersburg, 1899-1904
Circular, centering a diamond-set Russian Imperial double-headed eagle on a ground enameled in translucent royal blue on a sunburst engine-turned ground, within a border enameled in translucent yellow on an engine-turned ground. Diameter 1 1/32 inches (2.62 cm.).

The St. Petersburg firm of Hahn, which was granted the title of purveyor to the Court during the reign of Emperor Alexander III, was an important supplier to the Russian Imperial Court. Carl Blank, of Finnish extraction, worked exclusively for Hahn and served as the firm's head workmaster from 1892 to 1909.
