George III Satinwood and Harewood Marquetry Octagonal Work Box on Stand
Late 18th century
The hinged top centered by a roundel within floral borders and opening to a compartmentalized tray lifting to a blue silk-lined interior, the front with three inlaid oval panels, the sides with handles and berried foliate ovals; the conforming stand on splayed legs joined by a stretcher. Height of box 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm), diameter 13 inches (33 cm), height overall 18 inches (45.7 cm), diameter 14 inches (35.6 cm).
