Pair of Italian Neoclassical Painted and Parcel-Gilt Armchairs
Late 18th century
Each padded circular backrest within a square frame, the spandrels carved with foliage, the back painted with later spandrels, the armrests centering a bowfronted overupholstered seat with berried leaf-carved apron, raised on tapering stop-fluted square legs. Height 34 inches (86.4 cm), width 23 inches (58.4 cm), depth 18 inches (45.7 cm).

Good restored condition commensurate with age and use, later painted and parcel-gilt decoration, some worm damage, losses to back of square backrest around opening, rubbing to decoration, some losses to decoration and scuffs to feet; similar but with slight differences to lot 515, which has a rectangular backrest and no painted decoration to the back of the backrest.
