A needlework of similar composition was wrought by Mildred Gregory Washington (1777-1805), niece of George Washington. It was offered for sale in February 2016 at James D. Julia in Fairfield, ME. Both needleworks share men with black shoes sitting at a bale of hay with a dog seated beside him. A woman in a black hat with a rake faces the man with a barn in the background and a large willow tree. The present example includes a bright range of colors and numerous animals, including many birds in the willow.
