POTTER, BEATRIX The Story of a Fierce Bad Rabbit.
[London: Frederick Warne & Co., November 1906]. First edition with "London & New York" on the rear cover, resembling the first issue but a variant as the title page (the pastedown within the rear cover) here is the title page for The Story of Miss Moppet, also published in wallet form in 1906 (this variant not discussed by Quinby). Original wallet style binding of green cloth with a mounted color illustration, marbled lavender pastedowns with an ad for the Story of Miss Moppet. 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches (11 x 9 cm); bound in a concertina format with 14 color plates by the author facing the text, linen-backed. Well preserved with minor rubbing to the cloth covers and folding page edges, a few unobtrusive pen markings to pastedown, minor stain to rear board.
Possibly an unrecorded variant with the title page pastedowns for The Story of Miss Moppet present rather than the pastedowns for this title. Quinby 12; see also Quinby 11 for The Story of Miss Moppet.
