BYRD, RICHARD E., ADMIRAL Archive of photographs depicting a Byrd Antarctic Expedition.
Includes one large format portrait photograph of Byrd; about 18 8 x 10 inch vintage copy prints depicting Byrd but also the men of an expedition, views from a plane, a hazy flag salute, with dog and sled, images of the plane, etc., most of these with the BAE copyright in the image and with the backstamp of The Pond Bureau, NY. One photograph with a horizontal cut through image; and a group of approximately 40 small format vintage copy prints depicting many of the same scenes but more including penguins, dogs, mountain scenes, etc. The whole somewhat curled and lightly handled; Together with an autograph quote signed from explorer A.W. Greely, quoting Longfellow; And with two photographs inscribed by Harold McCracken and others, being a fine photograph titled "Explorers of the World" pencil signed by McCracken and two others, creased edges; and a vintage photograph depicting four men indoors at a camp inscribed and signed by McCracken and three others.
