Lot Details

Lot 38
George II Sterling Silver Brandy Warmer
London, 1728
Bombe-form with beak spout and turned wood handle. Length over handle 10 inches, approximately 10 ounces, all in.

Brandy warmers were popular among 18th century gentlemen and used for warming brandy or mulling wine. The size of these brandy warmers suggests this was a very intimate exercise done by the master in his library or after dinner for select male guests after the ladies had retired, rather than a beverage prepared for a larger group.
