Two Régence Beechwood and Caned Fauteuils à la Reine
Second quarter 18th century
Each shaped back and serpentine seat raised on cabriole legs joined by a shaped X-form stretcher; one back rail stamped CRESSON. Height of first 37 1/2 inches (95.3 cm),, width 26 inches (66 cm), depth 19 inches (48.3 cm), height of second 38 inches (96.5 cm), width 27 inches (68.6 cm), depth 19 inches (48.3 cm).

Chair stamped Cresson lighter in color than the other chair, gilt-tooled later leather back and seat stained, dried and cracking, repaired breaks to tops of stiles at junctures with crest rail, later caning, later corner blocks to underside of frame, old marks and scratches, back right foot pieced; second chair darker in color than first, with padded armrests, more recent later leather without gilt tooling and different color, later caning, feet tipped.
