[MAINE-PARMACHENEE CLUB] HEYWOOD, DANIEL E. Diary of a Parmachenee Guide at Camp Caribou, Parmachenee Lake, Oxford Co., Maine, Fall of 1890.
Bristol, N.H.: R. W. Musgrove, 1891. First edition. Three-quarters green morocco, cloth sides, top edge gilt, original wrappers bound-in. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (21.5 x 14 cm); 101, [1] pp.; frontispiece portrait. About fine. The Parmachenee Club, Camp Caribou copy, with the gift label of Henry W. Poor, and the club's name written on the front wrapper; later armorial bookplate of Sidney Kirkman.
A wonderful association copy of this rather uncommon work; we note only one example at auction in recent years (1986), that lacking the rear cover. Poor, in addition to being a noted bibliophile, was an enthusiastic sportsman and a one-time president of the Club, one of the great American Golden Age institutions.
C Estate of Arnold 'Jake' Johnson
