[Edinburgh and London]: Privately printed (by Ballantyne and Company), 1870. First edition. Fine full morocco gilt by Henderson and Bisset (of Edinburgh). 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches; 64 pp. A few scuffs, minor spine wear, but a very pretty binding in all, possibly intended for presentation. Internally, minor toning but overall clean.
"As a side trip during a cruise to Africa and India aboard the H.M.S. Galatea, the Duke of Edinburgh mounted a sporting expedition to Oudh and the Terai of Nepal. From elephant back his party hunted tiger, sambur, and barasingh, but with the heaviest toll was among spotted deer and hog deer. A rare work" - Czech, Asia, p. 213.
