Lot 135
WESTON, EDWARD (1886-1958) Two Shells [Negative 14S],
1927, printed circa 1980. Gelatin silver print, 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches (188 x 238 mm), dry-mounted, mount 15 x 13 inches (381 x 330 mm), verso signed, dated, annotated and titled by Cole Weston in pencil, the "Negative by Edward Weston" hand-stamped as usual. A fine example, no defects noted to image under raking light, the mount clean and fresh. Framed.
In the Daybook, Weston notes that "But the hour was late, the light failing. So there was my camera, focused, trained like gun, commanding the shells not to move a hair's breadth. And death to the person who jars out of place what I know shall be a very important negative."
Property from an International Corporation.

Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000
Sold for $2,500 (includes buyer's premium)
