The first edition of Nabokov's classic from the library of his American editor, Jason Epstein. Though unsuccessful in convincing Doubleday to publish Lolita, Epstein was able to print a long excerpt of the novel in the June 1957 issue of his Anchor Review, the first appearance of the novel in the United States. The relationship between the author and editor is well-known and the edits to the present copy are potentially in Epstein's hand. This is the first issue, before the stickers altering the price to "1200 Francs" were affixed to the rear covers.
C Property of Jason Epstein and Judith Miller
