Chinese Polychrome Decorated Brown Glazed Porcelain Five-Piece Garniture
Comprising a pair of cylindrical vases with flaring mouths and three conforming jars with covers. Height of tallest 11 inches.

Vase A: extensive damage to the mouth area, including breaks, hairline crack, chip loss to upper rim, overpainted (now dried, crazing and flaking), poorly restored; small chip loss to bottom rim; etc.

Vase B: appears to be in generally good condition

Jars: one jar has had extensive damage (cracks and breaks) to its neck area; another jar has a hairline crack extending downwards on its its neck area; this same jar had badly damaged areas near the bottom (two large pieces have previously been broken off and are now poorly re-affixed; there is also a chip loss at the bottom rim edge of this same jar; the third jar has approximately nine chip losses to the bottom rim and there is also a small area near the bottom of this jar that is missing some of the brown glaze and there is wear/rubbing/loss to the decorated band at the bottom; each jar is 9 1/8 inches high, however, there appear to be slight variations to the size of the mouth opening to each and there is also some noticeable size variation to the the diameter sizes of the three covers: 3 1/8 in.; 3 1/4 in.; and 3 1/2 in. diam.; one cover has flake losses to its underside; one cover appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; the third cover has been extensively (poorly) restored, including overpaint; each tip point on the finials on the covers has some glaze loss; one cover has some burst air bubbles on the glazed surface; the protruding underside portion of each of the covers is more oval in shape than circular, as would be expected on round covers (as made); none blacklighted; no character or blue ring marks, etc., on any of the the undersides
