Five American Sterling Silver Matchsafes
Various makers, late 19th century
Comprising one marked Unger Bros., shaped rectangular with border of cherubic masks in relief, height 2 3/4 inches (7 cm); one shaped rectangular with stylized lion masks and cherub mask, height 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm); one with a seated woman caught dreaming, 2 3/4 inches (6.5 cm); another marked Unger Bros., with cupid kissing a maiden with a foliate scroll border, height 2 5/8 inches (6.7 cm); and the last marked William B. Kerr, with two sea nymphs in rolling waves, height 2 3/4 inches (7 cm), total approximately 79.5 dwt.

Maiden and cupid - Unger Bros.; good condition overall; clearly hallmarked; good detail to decoration; hinge good and tight; reverse with script monogram "FLB"
Two women in waves - William B. Kerr; good condition overall; clearly hallmarked; good detail to decoration; hinge good and tight; reverse with script monogram "LED"
