Foxing, cocked, residue from the bookplate of Edward Sands Litchfield; Together with TODD, REV. JOHN [ed.], BRACE, J. Simple Sketches. Halifax: Milner and Sowerby, 1860. Publisher's red blindstamped cloth, gilt spine, all edges gilt. 4 3/4 x 3 inches; 224 pp.; engraved frontispiece. Shelfwear, stain to front board, rear joint starting, contents lightly foxed at front and back.
Of the first-listed work, "Two hunting episodes make up the sporting content in this work. One in the chapter 'Tomo and the Wild Lakes' in which two Indians jack for deer up the river towards Long Lake, and the other in the article 'Head Waters of the Penobscot' in which the author and his companions took a moose. Rare." Heller, 720. Of the second, first published 1838, this edition (apparently the third published by Milner and Sowerby) does not appear on WorldCat.
