Lot 116
[ANGLING] LAMBERT, SAMUEL W. When Mr. Pickwick Went Fishing.
New York: The Brick Row Book Shop, 1924. First edition. Publisher's cloth backed blue boards, pictorial jacket. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches; [10], 83 pp.,1 plate printed on green paper reproducing a pictorial wrapper, 10 plates reproducing Robert Seymour illustrations, partly unopened. Very minor toning and wear to jacket. A near-fine copy.
A study of angling literature's influence on Charles Dickens, Robert Seymour and the The Pickwick Papers, that asks why Mr. Pickwick is seen fishing on the parts covers, but never in the story itself. Scarce in jacket, especially one so well preserved.
