Publisher's pictorial gilt and black-stamped brown cloth over beveled boards. 8 x 5 3/4 inches; 139 pp., frontispiece, plates, in-text illustrations, 1 map,1 folding map in rear pocket. Light wear to extremities, one corner bumped and one loose leaf.
An account of the author's canoe expedition on Maine's remote rivers and lakes, detailing his adventures fly fishing, hunting, running rapids and photographing the scenery. The folding map in the first edition was especially made for this book by W.R. Curtis, C.E., and is reputedly one of the earliest maps published specifically for the use of recreational canoeists.
