Publisher's green cloth in dust jacket. 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (21.5 x 14 cm); 287, [12] pp.; frontispiece, plates, half-title, publisher's advertisements. Jacket a little creased and soiled, but overall in very good condition, lightly toned throughout, very occasional foxing.
"Combining his own hunting adventures with a study of the tiger in general, Burton focuses on man-eaters, hunting from an elephant, hunting on foot, and other equally descriptive chapters. He also includes notes from books and journal articles penned by other sportsmen. A concluding chapter reveals the experiences other travelers and hunters had with lions in the Kathiawar region" (Czech). Czech, Asia, pp. 37-38.
