The volume with a slip laid-in reporting this one of 1000 copies of the private edition before publication, signed in ink by Nixon on the front blank, cloth in jacket, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, minor wear to jacket; the proof bound in a black binder with taped on paper labels, with a letter enclosed at front from Nixon to Safire dated 26 August 1983, signed with initials "RN" providing the proof to Safire, 11 1/2 x 9 inches, some wear to boards.
