Sir Ian McKellen Signed musical manuscript stage prop from McKellen's role as Salieri in Amadeus.
New York: 1981. A 14 x 18 inch facsimile of a musical manuscript by Mozart signed "Ian McKellen" in blue ink in the upper margin and also signed as his character "Antonio Salieri" in blue ink in the lower margin. Matted with a signed color 4 x 6 inch photograph depicting McKellen outside of the Broadway theater; Together with five signed Playbills from McKellen's early theatrical career, each signed within, comprising: A Scent of Flowers, 1964, McKellan's West End debut, Duke of York's Theatre; A Lily in Little India, 1965, St. Martin's Theatre; Ashes, 1975, Young Vic; The Clandestine Marriage, as director, 1975, Savoy Theatre; and Too True to be Good, 1975, RSC/Globe Theatre. The facsimile fine, the Playbills with minor wear from handling.
A fine signed stage prop from Sir Ian McKellen's memorable 1981 performance as Antonio Salieri in Amadeus. At the end of the performance, McKellen as Salieri symbolically drops these facsimile manuscripts in resignation - the present example was retrieved by an autograph collector seated in the front row and was signed following the performance.
