Circa 1755
The hinged concave-fronted rectangular top with outset square corners opening to a leather-lined surface and corner candle recesses, raised on shell-carved cabriole legs with flanking long scrolls and ending in fetlock-carved paw feet. Height 28 1/2 inches (72.4 cm), width 33 3/4 inches (85.8 cm), depth 16 1/2 inches (42 cm).

Restored condition, sunfaded top, old marks and scratches, age cracks and minor chips to veneers of frieze, leather panel later, inside back left hinge loose at top of leg, back right leg with repaired break at top, gap to back right side at juncture of frieze and leg possibly due to repaired break at top of leg. replacements to veneers, traces of black varnish to feet, sometimes indicating an Irish origin;
