London: Will Bowyer, 1732. Period-style quarter calf with marbled boards, gilt spine label, all edges marbled. 8 x 4 3/4 inches (20 1/2 x 12 1/2 cm); xviv, [4], 254 pp.; engraved frontispiece portrait of Spenser by G. Vertue and twelve engraved plates by Fourdrinier. Joints rubbed, contents with occasional light toning and spotting, mostly affecting the margins of some plates and the index.
This is the second post-Elizabethan edition of Spenser's book of allegorical pastoral poems about the twelve months of the year, illustrated with Vertue's portrait of the author as well as engravings illustrating each poem. The text is in both English and, on the facing page, Latin.
