New York: New Directions, [1976]. Inscribed "To Dick Leavitt best wishes always, Tennessee Williams, 1977." This is the first edition of volume 5 only of the collected plays (of an eventual 8 volumes, published through 1981). Publisher's cloth, in original dust jacket. 8 x 5 1/4 inches; 370 pp. Spotting to upper edge, a few chips to jacket spine tip, the white areas of the jacket slightly toned.

This volume of the collected plays is rarely encountered inscribed. The plays collected here are: The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore, Kingdom of Earth (The Seven Descents of Myrtle), Small Craft Warnings, and The Two-Character Play. Dick Leavitt was a friend of Williams and a literary critic of some importance. He was known to also have assembled a large collection of photographs related to Tennessee Williams.
