[MAP-BOSTON] SIDNEY, J.C. Map of the City and Vicinity of Boston, Massachusetts from original surveys by J.C. Sidney.
Boston: J.B. Shields, 1852. Lithographed map with hand-color on two large sheets joined. Visible area 40 1/2 x 40 1/2 inches (103 x 103 cm); framed. The map is presentable but with areas of dampstain, soiling, toning and abrasion, small losses to upper right corner and elsewhere revealing a potential linen backing, unexamined out of frame and sold as is.

A stunning and uncommon large map of Boston with a fine depiction of the harbor. Two small vignettes in the upper border provide views of the State House and Faneuil Hall. Typically found folded into a case or dissected and laid-down, this copy appears to never have been folded offering an uninterrupted view. The map is rare, and we trace no copies at auction.
