London: Michael Joseph, (1936). First edition, first printing, a presentation copy to Gillian Mary Bristol, dated July 1935. Publisher's dark orange cloth in dust-jacket. 7 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches (18.75 x 12.25 cm); 283, [1], 4 pp. ads. Small loss to jacket at head of spine, with an additional chip just holding, jacket price-clipped, a very nice copy overall; The Earthly Paradise. London: Michael Joseph, (1940). First edition, first printing. Publisher's red cloth in dust jacket. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19 x 12 cm); 319, [1] pp. Spine slightly sunned, a few minor edge tears to the jacket, but a sound example; and five of the later Hornblower books, including the first English editions of The Commodore; Lord Hornblower; Mr. Midshipman Hornblower; Lieutenant Hornblower; and Hornblower and the Atropos. London: Michael Joseph, 1945-1953. Original cloth in dust jackets. Most about 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19 x 12 cm); various paginations. Some jacket wear, minor chips, two with gift or ownership inscriptions etc..
