Small loss to jacket at head of spine, with an additional chip just holding, jacket price-clipped, a very nice copy overall; The Earthly Paradise. London: Michael Joseph, (1940). First edition, first printing. Publisher's red cloth in dust jacket. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19 x 12 cm); 319, [1] pp. Spine slightly sunned, a few minor edge tears to the jacket, but a sound example; and five of the later Hornblower books, including the first English editions of The Commodore; Lord Hornblower; Mr. Midshipman Hornblower; Lieutenant Hornblower; and Hornblower and the Atropos.
