The Steamship 'Altonower' off a Coast

The 'Altonower' was a cargo steamship built by Andrew Leslie & Co. at Hebburn-on-Tyne in 1880. She was purchased by Adam & Co. of Aberdeen, which sold her in 1895 to Nippon Yusen of Tokyo. Renamed 'Yeijo Maro,' she subsequently belonged to several Japanese shipping companies before running aground at Kinkasan, an island off northeastern Japan, in 1916.
