Lot Details

Lot 1156
ANDY WARHOL Endangered Species.
The complete set of 10 offset color lithograph gallery postcards, 1983, nine of which are signed in ink in the upper margin by Warhol. 6x4 1/4 inches (15 x10 cm); comprising the printed front matter and 10 postcards all housed in the original plastic holder. The cards fine.

Brigid Berlin's set of signed (9 of 10) postcards promoting Andy Warhol's 1983 portfolio of 10 color screenprints of endangered species, published by Ronald Feldman Fine Arts, New York. The postcards present ten endangered species ranging from the African Elephant to the San Francisco Silverspot. The unsigned card, the Bighorn Ram, is original to the group and is presumed to have perhaps been momentarily stuck to the Bald Eagle card that precedes it, as the ghost of Warhol's signature is offset on the verso from the following card, the Black Rhinoceros.
