New York: circa 1919. 14 x 10 inches (28 x 36 cm); charcoal, ink and body color on illustration board, signed (ur). Minor soiling. Framed.

Gruger, born 1871, was among the most highly considered artists of the period, contributing to the Saturday Evening Post and other publications. O'Higgins was a prolific novelist; From the Life was a collection of short stories, all imaginary biographies, and was published by Harper to considerable acclaim.
