Lin Xiaozong Impressed Seal, Late 17th / Early 18th Century
The goddess of mercy gracefully modeled, standing amidst swirling waves with a serpent's head emerging, her right hand raised, her left holding a scroll, her head turned slightly to the left and eyes cast downward, with benevolent expression and serene smile rendered with the urna of wisdom and with pendulous earlobes, her hair plaited and held with a floral tiara, her flowing loose-robes open at the chest to reveal a bejeweled ruyi pectoral necklace. Height 13 inches.
