A Chinese Blue Glazed Pottery Figure of a Woman Musician with Drum
Tang Dynasty
The figure holding a double-sided drum in one fully formed hand and a drum stick beating the drum in the other fully formed hand, all covered in an olive glaze, her long pleated turquoise glazed dress flowing from her shoulders down to her exposed brown glazed shoes, the turquoise glaze turning into a deep blue glaze in the crevices of her dress and around the base, a yellow glazed collar of her dress which continues down her back as a sash and divides into a long sash down her back to the ground and acts as a belt in the front, a double necklace of beads across her chest, her well-formed face and her hair showing from her forehead down to her shoulders, all covered by a highly decorative hat with a medallion in the front and wings on the exterior with designs, her chest, neck, face hair and hat covered in a brown glaze, some residual black and red paint visible. Height 9 inches.
