A Rare Chinese Qingbai Censer
Song Dynasty
Rising from a six petal splayed foot with molded lines on each petal to a flat level with the same molded lines and then to a second level with sloping molded lines from which is attached the cup whose exterior consists of fourteen upward rising petals to a concave undecorated section to an everted slightly rounded mouth rim, the entire body of the censer and into its cup covered in a delicate slightly bluish-green glaze with the blue-green glaze around the molded petals and lines on the body and foot pooling a deeper bluish-green glaze which extends over the splayed feet and stops, leaving the recessed interior of the base unglazed and slightly burnt in the firing. Height 3 1/2 inches.

Song Dynasty Qingbai censers of this type are often distinguished from each other by either having a splayed petal foot or a flat base.
