Lot Details

Lot 1140
BRIGID BERLIN Two signed Polaroid self portraits.
Two vintage color Polaroids, likely late 1960s, the first depicting Berlin nude from the waist up, the second a close up self portrait, both signed or inscribed by Berlin on the card backing (see note), each 4 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches (11 x 9 cm). Some scratches to surface.

Two late 1960s Polaroids, the nude inscribed in the period "For Ted [Berrigan]/Nude after Woolworths/Love Brig" and the close up portrait signed "Brigid Berlin " in black ink. Berlin was an early user of Polaroid cameras and is credited with introducing the medium to Andy Warhol. There is an obvious comparison of these early self portraits to the modern "selfie."
