William J. Weaver is renowned for his many portraits of Alexander Hamilton, examples of which are in the collections of New York Historical Society and the Museum of the City of New York. Dr. Paul D. Schweizer, director of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute and an authority on the work of the artist has confirmed the authenticity of these paintings.

Additional Notes & Condition Report

Woman: 1/8 inch loss at lower left. Frame rubbing. 1/2 inch area of loss and inpainting along the left center edge. Also 1/2 inch area of inpainting in the woman's left shoulder.
Man: Frame rubbing. Appears to be spots of inpainting in the face and hair visible under raking light. 1 inch scuff at upper left edge. Few minute spots of restoration along the upper left edge and a 1/8 inch area in mans collar.
