Dorothy Hafner Postmodern Design Hand-Painted Art Pottery Dessert Service
Hafner Manhattan Studio, New York, copyright 1981, dated 1983, 1984 and 1985
Comprising six dessert plates, cake plate, teapot with caned handle, covered sugar bowl, and five small tea cups and six saucers, each of squared form, decorated in bright colors with Fireflies, Jelly Beans, and Arthur Murray Dance Steps, with impressed and painted script signature and dates. Height overall of teapot 9 1/4 inches.
Reference: Introduced in 1981, this design was produced by the Hafner Manhattan Studio for eleven years. Examples can be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Arts and Design, the Denver Art Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and the Newark Museum among others.
