1873. Albumen print on printed mount, image 7 5/16 x 10 7/8 inches (201 x 276 mm). Corners of the mount a bit bumped, image with good tones. Framed.
This was originally published in Photographs showing landscapes, geological, and other features of portions of the western territory of the United States, obtained in connection with geographical and geological explorations and surveys west of the 100th meridian, seasons of 1871, 1872, and 1873, [Washington, D.C.] : War Dept., Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, [1875], i.e. the Wheeler report. The inscription reads "By this place passed Ensign Don Joseph de Payba Basconzelos, in the year...1726."
