NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle's December auction of Important Jewelry showcased luxurious jewelry by the world's most prestigious makers. Perfectly timed for the holidays, the sale featured Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, David Webb and Tiffany & Co. rings, necklaces, brooches and bracelets set with diamonds, colored stones, jade and natural pearls.

A Rare Patek Philippe Reference 1518 Chronograph in yellow gold achieved a record $828,600! During the years 1941-1954, Patek Philippe produced 281 examples of Reference no. 1518 with 215 examples in 18 kt. yellow gold, 58 in rose gold and 4 examples known to date in stainless steel. This was the world's first wristwatch to be powered by a serially produced perpetual calendar chronograph. Before Patek Philippe achieved the engineering feat of releasing this in a wristwatch for, this was only possible in a larger format as a pocket watch.

A stunning Van Cleef & Arpels Platinum and Diamond ring sold for $327,600, concluding a successful three-day jewelry event with sale total topping $6.3 million!
