NEW YORK, NY -- International competition drove strong prices and a number of auction records were set at Doyle's sale of Prints and Multiples on October 26, 2022. Showcased were prints spanning the 17th through 21st centuries, as well as Picasso ceramics. With competitive bidding, the sale totaled a strong $1,535,596, topping its estimate of $1,535,300, with an exceptional 96% sold by lot and 100% sold by value.

Highlighting the sale was the 1985 color screenprint Turtle by Andy Warhol (1928-1987) created for the film Turtle Diary. The print surpassed its $40,000-60,000 estimate, achieving $88,200 – An American Auction Record for the Print. Another work by Warhol that performed exceptionally well was a small-scale color screenprint of Marilyn Monroe from 1967 measuring 6 x 6 1/8 inches that realized $63,000, more than doubling its estimate of $20,000-30,000. An Artist’s Proof from an edition of 100, the print was created to announce the publication of the Marilyn portfolio.

Auction Records were also achieved for works by Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Serra and Wayne Thiebaud.
