[TOBAGO] An elaborate printed and manuscript document with seal grating three hundred acres to Richard Ottley in Tobago, 1766.
A five-page printed document on large sheets headed "Grenada" accomplished in manuscript and with an attached manuscript map and metal encased wax seal. The document grants Richard Ottley three hundred acres of land in the Sandy Point division in Tobago. The lower fold of the document is signed by Robert Melvill, Governor of Grenada, the Grenadines, Dominica, St Vincent and Tobago. The wax seal is affixed to the document by the original green ribbon and is encased in its original metal holder. The sheets of the document 19 x 15 inches (48 x 38 cm). Folds, with the upper portion of the last sheet detached but present, some punctures and fraying to edges, splits to other folds, the wax seal broken but holding on the ribbon, worthy of repair.

An elaborate and large document granting land on Tobago, one of the islands ceded to Britain in the 1763 Treaty of Paris at the conclusion of the Seven Years' War. The document bears the signature of the Governor of the islands, Robert Melvill. Such documents are scarce.
