CHARLES V, as Holy Roman Emperor Manuscript proclamation on vellum, headed "Carolus Quintus" in shell gold Roman letters.
The text written in a very fine formal italic hand of considerable quality, signed by Charles in ink at end "Carolus", the verso of the folded seal panel countersigned "Obernburger." Likely Augsburg: dated at end 17th April, 1536. Folds, some cockling of vellum at edges, minor soiling, the original seal lacking leaving the punched triangular points through which it was threaded.

An exceptionally fine calligraphic example of a proclamation from the Court of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V.
