Set of Fourteen Victorian Sterling Silver Dinner Plates

Each circular with gadroon border, the cavetto engraved with two heraldic crests.
Diameter 9 3/4 inches (25 cm), total approximately 262 ounces.

The crests are those of Weld-Blundell, for Herbert Joseph Weld-Blundell (1852-1935) who succeeded his father, Thomas Weld-Blundell of Ince Blundell, in 1887 and his cousin Humphrey Joseph Weld of Lulworth Castle in 1928 having changed his surname to Weld only in 1924. Before the onset of the First World War, Weld traveled throughout Abyssinia, Somaliland and the Middle East resulting in his publishing Royal Chronicles of Abyssinia in 1922.
